The Chatter of Stars

At night, on the dock

the stars twinkle

like nodes in a brain


synapses fire

send signals

across space


I sit for a while

with ruddy cheeks

eavesdropping

Emily Polson is a Pushcart-nominated writer whose poems have appeared in Anti-Heroin Chic, Epoch Press, The Daily Drunk, and elsewhere. She earned a BFA in creative writing from Belhaven University and is pursuing an MFA at the City College of New York.
