John Alexander Augusti

After Giorgio de Chirico's "The Enigma of the Hour"

If in days, this would pass,

And not years.

If in steps, this would give,

And not miles.

If all the sad were old,

And not young.

If all the dead were dead,

And not alive.

John Alexander Augusti is a poet based in New York City and a student of creative writing at Columbia University. Work has previously appeared in Surgam Magazine, and he received the Core Scholars Prize in Literature for the University.
